Flexible Design:
Unlike Yagi designs, the LP design has more useful lobes to
the sides and back. This gives the antenna a 360 degree omni
ability, with the added benefit of gain in the direction it's
aimed. Why use a unity gain discone or ground plane, when
you can have omni ability and directional gain as well with
the LP.
Top Performance:
The wide-band Log Periodic design is simply the best performance
you can get for general scanning. No other design will do
better.
Wide Coverage:
This antenna is optimized for use in the 118 to 1000 MHz range,
which makes it good for all-around scanner use. Other bands
can be received as well.
Wide Bandwidth:
The nature of the LP design offers a wide bandwidth. Not only
is it wide in the band it was designed to operate in, but
it also does pretty well in nearby bands. This will help if
there's other bands you're interested in.
Solid Construction:
The antenna is constructed of twin 3/4" square aluminum
tube for the booms, and solid 1/4" aluminum round is
used for the elements. The boom is very stiff, as are the
elements. 1/4" stainless bolts and lock nuts are utilized,
not flimsy dimple rivets. The entire antenna is carefully
hand crafted and all aluminum is given a brushed finish.
Weather Resistant:
All fasteners are stainless steel and UV resistant cable clips
are used to hold the coax to the boom.
High Quality N Connector:
Instead of the usual UHF connector that's included with
most antennas, this antenna includes a 50 ohm female N connector.
N connectors are more water resistant and handle high frequencies
better.
Horizontal Mount:
A horizontal mast piece consisting of aluminum plate is included
with the antenna. This acts as a stand-off and allows the the
antenna to be positioned away from your mast in free space and
vertical polarization.
Electrically Isolated:
The antenna is electrically isolated from the horizontal and
vertical masts.
Mounting Hardware:
The necessary hardware for attaching the antenna to any standard
1 1/4" steel mast is also included. Just prepare your
mast and you're all set to go.
Only Partial
Assembly Required: The boom is completely
assembled, along with the feeder cable and mount. The only
things that need to be done yourself are attaching the elements,
and putting up a mast.
TESTIMONIALS
"I just put up one of DPD productions
new 118-1000 MHz LP antennas. This is one great antenna for
the money. Great looks and very easy to put together. Performance
wise from 30-860 MHz... excellent. I pick up low band state
police just as good as a discone. VHF air... fantastic...
able to hear controllers and planes on the ground. UHF air
just as good. 860 MHz trunking... great. As far as other freqs...
VHF high, UHF, VHF low... really good. If you are looking
for a real good LP but don't want to break the bank, check
out this antenna."

"What I do know is that my recent antenna
upgrade to a DPD Productions Scanner LP Model Antenna is AWESOME
for working CG Sector SFO. The LP Model definitely out performs
my old RS Discone. With the Discone I could "hear"
Sector, but NOT the CG Stations in the Bay area, like I can
now, with the LP. The audio with the LP Model as compared
to the Discone, is like the difference in picture quality
between analog and HD on your TV."

"I just wanted to first thank you for
making a great antenna. I own and work with a scantenna and
was very skeptical in purchasing one of your antennas. After
reading reviews on Radio Reference and looking at photos of
the antenna construction I was convinced. I have purchased
the 118-1000 MHz Scanner LP Model Antenna and I will say I
have not been disappointed. I didn't think that anything could
come close to the scantenna, but it has."
